Set on a hillside overlooking Monterey Bay, California, and originally built in 1953, this mid-century modern home was a diamond in the rough, and in dire need of a complete remodel. Strict local and statewide building code prohibited new square footage from being added to the existing structure. A much needed entry porch was achieved by floating a new roof over the existing structure, and avoiding the code restrictions. The existing two-car garage was taken back to its original carport design, and thus providing more covered entertainment area and enjoyment of the ocean view. A new large Brazilian hardwood deck was created along the length of the home for enjoyment of the many sun filled days of Monterey.
