Situated atop a ridge with commanding views of a natural waterfall, the Mill Pond Ranch is a gathering place and retreat for friends and family. The design seeks to directly engage the rugged landscape of the Texas hill country using large porches, arcades, breezeways, and courtyards. Using the rocky hills and existing oaks as guides, the buildings are placed carefully to form a large central court, akin to historic forts found around Texas. Natural materials were selected for their durability, local availability, and seamless connection with the surrounding landscape.
