Project Architect/Designer Position
Garwood Architecture is seeking a well-qualified, level-headed candidate who is passionate about residential design to join our small boutique firm. We specialize in high-end residential projects and are looking for someone with shared enthusiasm to contribute to our growing team. The position is remote, full-time and compensation is on an hourly basis. Pay is commensurate with experience and performance.
Job Summary
Assist and work alongside the firm’s principal on all aspects of a project from design through construction (feasibility studies, schematic design, design development, construction drawings and detailing, construction administration, landscape design, etc). Over time, the candidate will transition into designing and managing projects independently, with general oversight from the principal. The candidate must demonstrate a strong design acumen and have a comprehensive understanding of residential construction materials and methods. This position is open for immediate start.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
- Experience putting together construction document sets
- Design and technical construction drawing detailing
- Ability to coordinate and manage professional consultants including, but not limited to structural engineer, geotechnical engineer, sanitary engineer, interior designer, landscape architect, surveyor, general contractor
- Ability to comprehend and interpret land development codes, deed restrictions and neighborhood design guidelines
Candidate Requirements
- Great communication skills, orally, written and graphically
- Problem solver, critical thinker and detail oriented with a passion for excellence
- Self-driven, independent, ability to work remotely with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills
- Capable of managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Computer Skills
- Proficient in Revit and Sketchup
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Computer rendering skills (preferred but not required)
